Women Build

Each year SFHFH participates in Women Build, where all women teams volunteer together to build a home. In 2009, SFHFH participated in National Women Build Week where across all 50 states, more than 7,000 women volunteers built at more than 200 Habitat for Humanity construction sites.

We kicked off our 2010 Women Build project with a groundbreaking ceremony on May 7th.On Saturday, August 28th, Habitat will host a Dedication of this now-completed house.  Volunteers, Habitat Board members, staff, and of course our Partner Family will be present to dedicate this house as it moves into its next phase of becoming a home.  We hope you'll join us!  Print out a map and directions.

Below are some highlights from the Women Build Kick-off and Groundbreaking Ceremony on May 7th. (Click on the slideshow to see a larger format.)

Developed through the partnership between Lowe’s and Habitat for Humanity, National Women Build Week challenges women to devote one day to the effort to eliminate poverty housing.  The event is an initiative of Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program, underwritten by Lowe’s, which brings women from all walks of life together to learn construction skills and then use those skills to build simple, decent affordable houses.
